Here's a good story for you. So last week I got the pleasure of closing the store by myself for the first time. I kept hearing about how all the interesting people come out at night, and have not had the pleasure of experiencing this for myself yet. Now I need to preface the story by saying that this happened before the recent recall of virtually every product that is made with peanut butter, just to put it in context. I received a call from a gentleman stating that he had purchased some chicken at the store and after cooking it and eating it him and his whole family got sick. He thought that maybe with the recent outbreak of salmonella that his chicken might have been contaminated with it. I told him that if he wanted to bring in his receipt we would be more then happy to refund his money for him. The gentlemen showed up about 30 minutes later and then promptly offered me some of his chicken that he brought with him to see if I would get sick as well. After politely declining, I had the customer service associate write up his refund slip. The whole time he was complaining about how he still felt rather sick and was not sure how he was keeping anything down. I didn't really have the heart to tell him that if his chicken was properly cooked then there really wasn't any way that he could have contracted salmonella from it. There were also already rumblings out there that a lot of the outbreaks were associated to peanut butter, again something that I didn't mention, as it was easier to just go with the flow. The gentlemen seemed quite content with his refund. About 20 minutes later I saw the same individual purchase a case of beer with the same money that I had refunded to him. Apparently beer is the new miracle cure for salmonella....who knew? It never ceases to amaze me the mindset that some people get into. On a more serious note though, this scare has been rather frightening with some of the everyday items that are being recalled, and for the past four or five days I have had a different product that I have had to pull from the shelf. Before you all panic though and throw away all of your peanut butter, at this point it is only peanut butter products, such as peanut butter crackers and a few energy bars.
Anyways...in a Noah update, he has developed a fun new playing habit. Rather then just pick up his little toy cars and munching on the windshield or tires, he has actually started to play with it as a real toy. He will push it along the floor (in the proper way that we all push a car) and go "vroooom vroooom" It is insanely cute to watch, and I feel like we have turned a huge corner in playtime. Toys are becoming toys, and not just objects to place in the mouth.

I always wonder about people like that, if they actually believe their own story or they think they're so clever.
