It is official, we have survived a crib recall...and fairly unscathed. Tim brought all of the paperwork, voucher and receipts to Babies R Us last night while I stayed home with an increasingly cranky Noah. He returned with a bigger refund than we had originally paid (because they refund you sales tax but don't charge it for online orders) and the voucher was applied to the crib purchase without incident! The crib gods were smiling on us for a change. Hopefully there will be nothing further to discuss on this issue and we can move on to bigger and better things...like baby-proofing!
While I am certainly not totally pleased with the way things were handled on the parts of Jardine Enterprises and Babies R Us, we do ultimately have the crib we wanted and with no additional costs on our part. I think the only thing that saved my sanity was the fact that I found out about the recall so close to leaving on vacation, so the whole process got stalled for us, which ended up being a good thing. We just let the whole thing blow over for a bit and then ended up reaping the benefits of those parents who were busy freaking out while we were relaxing in Maine. It doesn't seem totally fair, but occasionally I have to not be the one freaking out otherwise I would have had a stroke already!
