The week began with a fun day up in Maine and a day trip for Mommy and Noah. Monday I had the chance to meet up with a couple of friends of mine that I have known since elementary school. Liz was up from Alabama where she has a faculty position and Allison lives up in central Maine. We decided it would be great to catch up and for them to meet Noah. We hung out at Memere and Pepere B.'s place since it was about halfway, had some Alex Pizza and they loved all over Noah! It was a great time, and I am so glad we got a chance to catch up. I miss seeing them more often, but such is life when you have friends all over the country. We'll have to do again around Christmas time when people are back together in New England. After the ladies left to go back to central Maine, I put Noah down for a nap and waited for Memere and Pepere B. to get home from work. We had a nice dinner and they got a chance to hang out with the wee little man (which they couldn't be happier about), and then it was back to Massachusetts for us.
Later in the week, we got a surprise visit from Uncle Tim! Now that is a big deal since the man lives at least for the next couple of weeks potentially) in Salt Lake City, Utah! He called on Monday while Noah and I were visiting the ladies asking if he could crash at our place for the weekend so he could go to a job interview on Friday. How fun! So Thursday evening he arrived. We had dinner not long after he got here, so Noah sat in his high chair across the table from Uncle Tim and by the end of dinner they were making friends and Noah was flashing him his cutest little grin. After that, Uncle Tim was cool and Noah had no problems going to see him and hang out with him the whole time he was here!! They had a great time together and I hope the job he is applying for works out so he can be around here more often! I'll keep you posted.
Over the weekend it was my turn for a milestone instead of Noah! Aside from on evening out with drinks with Uncle Christopher up in Maine where I got Noah all ready for bed and Memere B. finished the bottle and laid him in his crib (which in my head doesn't count because Noah was less than 2 months old and didn't have a clue what was going on most of the time anyway!), I have never left the little dude with anyone past his bedtime. This week, I have finally, after 7 months, managed to stay out past Noah's bedtime! Thankfully we had paid good money for the concert tickets, so when it came down to doing it, I really didn't leave myself a choice...but that doesn't mean it didn't hurt just a little. Memere and Pepere B. came for the night and stayed with the little man, and since Uncle Tim was still around, there were 3 adults to one small baby...pretty safe I think. Plus 2 of the adults had successfully raised children themselves, albeit a few decades ago, but these things have to be like riding a bike...you never really forget all of that stuff you learned and the experience you have doesn't suddenly become lost. So off we went to the concert...it was down at Gillette Stadium and was a many hour festival thing. We decided to go a little late so that I didn't have to bring the breastpump in with us. The concert was great, it was fun to be there, even if we were in the 3rd balcony and the performers sounded like ants and we had a massive echo. And will wonders never cease...the wee man was fine. He slept in his swing for part of the evening, Memere fed him some sweet potatoes and pears, he played on the floor and when it was time for bed, he went down without a fuss and slept great! I love him so! :) It was definitely liberating to be out as adults for more than just 2 hours, but I can't say that I didn't miss him a bit just the same.
Today Uncle Tim flew back to Utah...hopefully we will hear about his job interview outcome soon. In the meantime, I have some nasty stomach bug that is making life really uncomfortable. Hopefully I don't pass it on to anyone else in the house. We were supposed to go to a goodbye brunch with a friend...guess that will have to wait until she gets back from Croatia :(
